Budget-Friendly Ways to Improve Your Hotel Rooms

You don’t need to completely redo your rooms to upgrade their appeal to guests. Small touches can often work wonders.

One suggestion is to swap out your old patterned linen for solid-coloured linens. Natural fibers are best, and neutral tones or whites are recommended – white works well for cleaning purposes, and according to various hotel experts, it makes rooms look more spacious.

HGTV recommends layering a duvet and coverlet for “a more luxurious look” as well – and putting a “boom pow” on pillow for style. If you’re consciously going for a rustic charm look, quilts are fine. Alternatively, see one of our earlier articles on triple-sheeting.

No matter how low-budget or lavishly-budgeted a hotel guest is, they want comfortable beds, and quality linens impact their perception of the quality and comfort of the bed. Upgrading to solid is worth the investment.

Consider doing away with the patterned wallpaper too. Painting rooms isn’t expensive but it does so much to improve their look and feel. Again, neutral tones say “quality” these days, and lighter colours make a room feel larger. Even the layout of the room can contribute to a more, or less, positive impression from guests. You want the room to be inviting and comfortable for guests, and rearranging the furniture has the advantage of being absolutely free.

Hotel Manager recommends not simply shoving the sofas and chairs up against the walls. Putting the chair and desk by the window is a nice touch, and try positioning the sofa across from the bed. What you want is an arrangement that looks good in pictures on the website as well as one that feels warm and comfortable to someone entering a room.
