The Hotelier's Wish List

You keep up with the essentials for what your hotel property needs but when’s the last time you’ve checked to see if some of the fun extras, the ‘wish list’ items, are affordable?

You might be surprised how reasonably-priced some of these items actually are.

Queuing stanchions and velvet ropes. They either add a dash of elan to a property or are simply expected in certain places. Either way, they’re useful and last a long time. If you’ve thought it would be fun to have them but didn’t want to splurge, check pricing. They’re probably not as dear as you might suspect.

Bathrobes. Do you put bathrobes in your guest rooms? They’re highly appreciated by most guests.

Slippers. And how about bath slippers? They’re also appreciated, they’re really not all that pricey and you can often get ones that match your bathrobes.

‘Recycle Only’ tidy bin. Recycling’s a popular idea and especially if you’re running a self-proclaimed green or environmentally-friendly property. Putting out specially designated recycle tidy bins demonstrates that you’re serious about it.

Ad mat. You have to have mats down anyway, why not get one that advertises the name of your property? Good quality ones last a long time and help fix your property name and branding in a guest’s memory.

Microfibre cleaning cloths. These last longer than traditional cleaning cloths and many who use them find an increase in cleaning capacity. Because they cost more than traditional cleaning cloths they’re considered a wish list item, but again, when you compare how much mileage you get out of them, you could very well be saving money on what seems like an indulgence.
