Guestroom Toasters

What Toaster to Put In Hotel Rooms?

A four-slice toaster is something that should be included in all room kitchenettes and should be included in any room if at all possible.

This is because the toaster is not only used for toasting bread, or other things created to be cooked in toasters, such as breakfast pastries or frozen waffles. It’s probably the preserve only of certain hotel clienteles but some guests will use the hotel toaster for a range of travel food preparation. For this reason it’s a good idea to spend a bit of extra time making sure the inside of the toaster is clean from the last creative cooking experience.

Experienced road warriors will bring toaster bags or parchment paper if they’re planning on whipping up something cheap and easy in the room. This will spare you much of the cleanup.

Others, however, will not and may try cooking some of the following dishes in your toaster. Considerate guests put the toaster on its side if they don’t have a toaster bag.

Here’s what you may find.

Grilled cheese toasted sandwiches. These could leave melted cheese in your toaster. Some people include tomato slices in them as well. If you're finding this is a regular occurrence, consider providing toaster bags.

Tortilla chips. This resembles the toasters actual manufacture purpose - take plain flour or corn tortillas, put them in the toaster and turn it up to 11.

Veggie burgers. These come out much better in toasters than in microwaves (we’re told), because they come out crispier and somewhat less pitiable. The one advantage is that they don’t tend to drip fat into your toaster when they cook.

Paninis. Yes, they’re just grilled cheese toasted sandwiches, but can include lots of meats, sauces and other creativity. Hope that your guests use toaster bags when cooking these (or supply them, as mentioned with standard toasted sandwiches).

Pizza, chips (or French fries), onion rings. Yep, last night's fast food raid will sometimes go in the toaster too.

Like noodles being cooked in a kettle, you’ll often find the humble toaster has been used for some new innovation so it does pay to double check the inside and base. But above all else, don’t fall into the trap of avoiding the situation altogether by not providing toasters at all. Your guests will certainly notice.
