Are Branded Pens Worth It?

There are lots of ways to publicise your property - print ads, TV, online, social, branded amenities, you name it.

Branded pens are a common promotional item. Are they really worth the expense?

The quick answer: Probably yes, they are.

“According to a study from Promotional Products Association International, 52% of consumers would keep a lower-cost item like a pen as long as it’s useful,” industry observer Cheryl Termo writes.

This is why pens are consistently among the most popular promotional items, along with other perennial trade show favorites as USB drives, mugs, t-shirts, and ice scrapers (in certain parts of the world).

Pens are considered among the most effective and popular branded promotional items because, well, they get used a lot. They’re not expensive, but unlike some other promotional items, people tend to hang onto them, toss them in their purse or glove box or briefcase and actually use them.

You don’t have to worry what size someone is when you give them a pen, unlike t-shirts. They don’t break as easily as coffee mugs and how many key chains does a person need, really? Unless it’s an expensive high-quality key chain, it gets dumped. Fast.

If you’re into handing out premium swag, okay, go for the branded briefcases or golf balls. But if you want a quick, inexpensive and effective way for your property to stay in someone’s mind, branded pens are a good way to go.
